We’re hiring: Junior Designer

Hours: up to 15 hours per week

Salary: £7.21 per hour  (£5,624 pro rata)


Purpose and background of the role:

The Junior Designer will be a key member of the design team that creates ground breaking solutions that improve daily life for more and more families every day. This role is a chance to be a part of something new, innovative and proactive in improving family life.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Social media, website and communication updates and design
  • Managing and designing marketing materials
  • Designing and managing communications between funders, clients, artists and families
  • Designing and updating everyday activities for families
  • Developing and updating databases and managing monitoring data


Background – Creative Homes:

Creative Homes is an experiential home visiting service that uses trained artists to identify and solve every day stresses in the home. We aim to help families reduce their stress, so they become healthier and more resilient, with the ultimate objective of improving children’s outcomes.

Our storytellers, dancers and musicians provide playful solutions to help families build lasting, positive routines, and combat overcrowded living spaces. We support adult engagement in play, modelling responsive communication, using practical demonstration, rewards for children and parental observation techniques.

We currently operate in Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham and are funded by Guys and St Thomas Charity as part of the Knee High Challenge, managed by Design Council.


Background – Tea Dance for Little People:

Tea Dance for Little People is a social enterprise aimed at improving the health and well-being of families with young children through creative play. We offer refreshing, quality, custom written activity in families homes or community venues led by a professional team of artists, dancers, storytellers and musicians.


Summary of responsibilities:

Social Media: 

  • Assist in the development and execution of a social media strategy
  • Day to day management of social media accounts
  • Set up and maintain WhatsApp groups

Website and Blogs:

  • Working with WordPress to update and maintain websites
  • Post weekly updates to project blogs


  • Produce digital and paper marketing materials
  • Assist in the design of resources


  • Photograph a range of activities, events and home visits
  • Preparation and photographing of weekly Door Knock Craft Packs
  • Develop photo stories for individual characters and hub sessions
  • Lead on the management of the Flickr account
  • Manage the storage and categorisation of photography library
